Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana Haryana | Haryana Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana was started to reduce the risk of farmers by providing fixed protected prices during low prices of vegetables and fruits in the market, which encourages farmers to diversify in agriculture. This scheme is now extended for seasonal crops like Bajara etc as well. This scheme protects farmers from the loss due to low prices while selling in the Mandi.
Under Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana Haryana Government of Haryana announces the minimum price for the crops and if the price while selling in the mandi is less than that announced price then Govt. of Haryana pays the difference amount i.e. Bhavantar to compensate the loss of farmers.
Crops included initially under Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana Haryana are Tomato (टमाटर), Onion (प्याज), Potato (आलू) and Cauliflower (फूलगोभी).
Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana Haryana is a unique Scheme of its kind initially implemented by the Haryana Government for horticulture farmers to compensate for the low price of their produce in the market. The Scheme has been extended to the Bajra crop from the Kharif season of 2021 to boost millet-growing farmers in the State.
Haryana is the first state in the country to implement the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana in Haryana to protect its farmers from loss while selling their produce in the Mandi. The government of Haryana has taken the following decisions have been taken regarding the purchase of Bajra/Millet:
After verifying the crop information of farmers registered on the ‘Meri Fasal-Mera Byora‘ portal and accounting for the Bhavantar difference, eligible farmers will receive a payment of Rs 600 per quintal based on the Average Millet Market Price and the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Pearl Millet (Bajra) has been set at Rs 2250 per quintal in Haryana State. However, in neighboring states such as Rajasthan and Punjab, there is no MSP announced for Bajra this season, and it appears unlikely that they will procure Bajra this time as well.
Compensation will be provided to farmers in Haryana who have registered their Bajra crops on the ‘Meri Fasal-Mera Byora‘ portal. The government agency will purchase 25% of the Bajra produce at the market price to stabilize the yield’s pricing.
In Kharif Season 2021, 2 Lakh 71 Thousand farmers have registered on the ‘Meri Fasal-Mera Byora‘ portal for Millet or Bajra crop. About 8 Lakh 65 thousand acres of land has been verified. As soon as the procurement starts, Rs 600 per quintal will be paid according to the average yield through DBT in the accounts of the farmers.
This season, the Government of Haryana is set to procure 5 different crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). For Kharif Crops, the procurement of Moong, Maize, and Paddy will commence on October 1, while the procurement of Groundnut will begin on November 1, alongside Millet.
Apart from these crops, the state government is also going to procure Tur, Urad, and Sesame for the first time, which will start on December 1.
Farmers are currently being incentivized to cultivate Oil-seeds and pulse crops such as Moong, Tur, Castor, and Groundnut instead of Millet. Those who opt for these alternative crops instead of Bajra and reduce their Bajra production will receive a grant of Rs 4,000 per acre.
In the state, there are 86 procurement centers established for millet, 38 for Moong, 19 for Maize, and 7 for Groundnut. Additionally, 199 procurement centers have been established for the purchase of paddy.
