Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY Scheme) earlier was known as Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) is a maternity benefit scheme launched by the Government of India in 2017. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to pregnant and lactating mothers for their first live birth.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana – PMMVY Scheme, eligible pregnant women and lactating mothers receive a cash incentive of Rs. 5,000 in three installments for the birth of their first child.

• The first installment of Rs. 1,000 is provided on registration of pregnancy at an Anganwadi Centre or approved health facility.
• The second installment of Rs. 2,000 is provided after six months of pregnancy on receiving at least one antenatal check-up.
• The third and final installment of Rs. 2,000 is provided on the child’s birth registration, along with the child’s immunization and additional postnatal check-ups.

The PMMVY is a centrally sponsored scheme (60% from Centre : 40 % from State) that is implemented through the Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with state governments. The scheme is available to pregnant and lactating mothers across the country and aims to provide financial support to help ensure good health and nutrition for mothers and their newborn children.

• The scheme is applicable for women who are pregnant or lactating and have given birth to their first child.
• The woman was employed before she conceived the pregnancy.
• The woman has experienced a wage-loss due to the pregnancy.
• The woman is not on a paid maternity scheme.
• The woman conceived on or after 01.01. 2017.
• The woman must be aged 19 years or above.
• The woman must be a resident of Haryana (for getting in Haryana), though it’s a central funded scheme(60% from Centre : 40 % from State) and applicable throughout the country.
• The woman must be registered under the Anganwadi Center or Government hospital.

Benefits under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY):

• The scheme provides a cash incentive of Rs. 5,000 in three installments.
• The first installment of Rs. 1,000 is given when the woman registers under the scheme.
• The second installment of Rs. 2,000 is given after the woman undergoes at least one ante-natal check-up.
• The third installment of Rs. 2,000 is given after the woman has given birth and received the first round of immunization (BCG, OPV, DPT and Hepatitis-B vaccination).

Documents Required under PMMVY Scheme:

• Aadhaar Card or any other ID proof.
• Ration card.
• Bank Account Passbook.
• Pregnancy Certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
• Ante-natal check-up record.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY Scheme) Application procedure:

• The woman must register herself under the scheme at the Anganwadi Center or Government hospital.
• The application form for the scheme can also be downloaded from the official website of the Department of Women and Child Development, Haryana.
• The filled-in application form along with the required documents must be submitted to the Anganwadi Center or Government hospital.

Payments under PMMVY Scheme:

Transfer of benefits would be through DBT in Bank/Post Office account only.
